Energy Performance Services (EPS) Inc. (“EPS”), incorporated in 1992, has specialized in industrial energy management for over 30 years. EPS works with large energy using industrial organizations in North America to establish continuous improvement systems for energy, by focusing on better utilizing the systems and equipment that are already in place.
JOB SUMMARY
As part of the Measurement and Verification (M&V) team at EPS, your role will be to support the delivery of various energy management programs to multiple large industrial clients. The focus of this role will be to actively participate in the production of high-quality M&V Plans, M&V Reports and support the approval process with the programs and evaluators.
Specific tasks of the M&V Energy Analyst will include:
- Evaluating energy performance for various industrial energy conservation projects using multivariate regression models and/or other engineering calculations conforming to recognized M&V protocols.
- Drafting and/or reviewing M&V Plans and M&V reports.
- Communicating energy performance with clients on a regular basis.
- Developing insights into energy savings within industrial facilities to identify potential risks and or opportunities in maintaining performance over time.
- Providing technical support to internal team members or external clients in finding, validating, developing, and implementing energy savings opportunities in industrial systems (compressors, boilers, chillers, HVAC, pumps, fans, major process equipment, etc.).
- Where necessary, obtaining metered data within industrial networks (equipment, PLCs, HMIs, data historians, etc.) to measure performance improvements.
- Interaction with the clients mainly via teleconferencing and occasionally in person and on site.
- Participating in on-site visits to establish customer relationships, process understanding or setting up measurement equipment.
- Supporting and/or leading junior Energy Analysts in generating viable M&V strategies, performing engineering calculations and analyzing complex systems.
- Deliver energy savings.
REQUIRED SKILLS
- 7+ years of experience in energy management/engineering.
- Ability to summarize complex engineering actions and supporting calculation into a concise, well-organized and clear report that can communicate important details to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Strong technical knowledge enabling in-depth understanding of various industrial processes and systems as well as related engineering concepts.
- Strong analytical skills as well as effective/practical problem-solving.
- Experience in data analysis, including quality control, cleaning data, summary statistics, visual analysis, model generation, etc.
- Knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite (especially Excel).
- Familiarity with the International Performance Measurement and Verification Protocol (IPMVP).
- Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to work as part of a team and to effectively facilitate group conversations (internal and external).
- Experience in an industrial environment.
- Ability to read, write and speak in English. French is a strong asset.
- Autonomous and results oriented.
- Certified Measurement and Verification Professional (CMVP) or Certified Energy Manager (CEM) an asset.
- Experience using regression analysis, an asset.
- Knowledge of industrial hardware and software an asset (PLCs, HMIs, data historians).
- Passionate about energy management and sustainability.
- Possibility to move to a more client-facing lead role in a short period of time.
Targeted Degrees & Disciplines
- Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, or Industrial/Manufacturing Engineering.
- Experience in manufacturing and continuous improvement systems.
WORK CONDITIONS
- Full-time (40 hours/week), permanent.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Remote work from your home office except for training and team building activities.
- Preferred geographical location is Toronto or Montreal.
- Co-working space available in Toronto and Montreal.
- Travel to clients in various locations across North America may be required, up to 5%.
