Job Description

We are hiring an EMSL/ Core Engineering Technologist in Ottawa. This role is fully on-site, 40 hours a week, within our Manufacturing and Operations team. You will work closely with a team comprising Production Controllers, Master Schedulers, Shipping & Receiving Specialists, Assemblers, Technologists, Repair & Overhaul experts, and Engineers. If you thrive in a busy manufacturing environment and enjoy hands-on work, this role is for you. Tasks include:

  • Assisting with asset acquisition, calibration/repair, auditing, tracking/control, reassignment, shipping, and disposal, including inventory management, reporting, and customer relations for EMSL service requests.
  • Supporting annual calibration events for facilities.
  • Operating, testing, installing, and maintaining test equipment with guidance.
  • Performing preventive maintenance and repairs on manufacturing core equipment and tools, maintaining system software backups and updates.
  • Identifying and resolving technical issues, troubleshooting circuits from system to component level, and performing rework/repairs.
  • Documenting and interpreting schematic diagrams, drawings, parts lists, and quality tracking systems.
  • Troubleshooting complex circuits and equipment, performing rework as needed.
  • Conducting data analysis and providing technical reports.
  • Creating or updating departmental instructions, calibration procedures, ESD procedures, and maintenance procedures.
  • Performing calibration, ESD testing, audits, preventive and corrective maintenance, and documenting results.
  • Performing other related duties as required.
Qualifications
  • A three-year College Diploma as an Electronics or Electrical Engineering Technologist or equivalent.
  • At least 2 years of related calibration experience with manufacturing core equipment.
  • Experience in obtaining quotes, placing orders, creating/updating procedures, and system diagnostics programming (e.g., LabVIEW, C, C++).
  • Must obtain and maintain Canadian Security Clearance and a positive Controlled Goods Assessment. Eligibility to work in Canada as a Citizen or Permanent Resident.

Work Environment:

  • Extensive sitting at workstations or equipment (about 60%), repetitive hand/finger movements, handling heavy carts (>50 lbs).
  • High visual attention and concentration required for troubleshooting, data capturing, and analysis.
  • Mix of office work (~25%) and hands-on work on the production floor, including troubleshooting, calibration, repair, and auditing.
