What you’ll do (the highlights)

Under the direction of the assigned Program Manager, the Employment Services Supervisor is responsible for assisting the people we support in the acquisition of vocational skills to obtain and maintain competitive employment in the community. The Employment Supervisor oversees and manages a team responsible for promoting and implementing inclusive hiring practices within an organization. This role involves working closely with employers and job seekers to create an inclusive and diverse workforce that values the unique contributions of the people we support.

What that looks like :

  • Working Full-Time, Monday-Friday days in an office-based position.
  • Work with individuals to develop pre-employment and employment skills through one-on-one and group support.
  • Assist in setting employment goals, creating action plans, and searching for competitive job opportunities.
  • Provide job coaching and tailored follow-up support.
  • Offer community-based assistance and workplace assessments, including accompanying individuals to interviews or helping with transportation to work.
  • Identify learning barriers and determine effective training methods for each individual.
  • Recommend assistive devices, equipment, and helpful community resources to enhance employment opportunities.
  • Promote independence and encourage decision-making by respecting individual interests and choices.
  • Provide guidance, direction, and supervision to the Employment Services team.
  • Serve as a positive role model for both staff and the people supported.
  • Complete administrative duties, such as communication logs and incident reports, while maintaining effective communication with all stakeholders.
  • Source potential employment opportunities and create a follow-up structure for those in employment.
  • Utilize Non-Violent Crisis Intervention techniques when necessary in escalated situations.
  • Maintain accurate records and facilitate clear communication with management, coworkers, and community partners.

    Your Qualifications :

  • Working understanding of the needs of people with intellectual disabilities.
  • Experience in task analysis, instructional methods, group facilitation, and evaluation techniques.
  • Knowledge of marketing strategies.
  • Excellent written communication, organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to develop and maintain accurate records and reports as required.
  • Proficiency in computer use is required.
  • Full or Intermediate Class 5 Manitoba Driver’s License is required.
  • Certificate in Disability and Community Support is an asset.
  • Education Assistant Diploma an asset.
  • Sound knowledge of intellectual disabilities and experience working in the field is an asset.
