Description

Position: Employment Resource Centre Coordinator

Location: Edmonton, AB

Type: Full Time

Salary: Starting at $52,000

At Prospect, we value the diversity of people. Diversity at Prospect means a workplace where individual differences are recognized and appreciated, respected and responded to in ways that fully develop and utilize each person’s talents and strengths.

Prospect helps people get jobs. We’re a not-for-profit and registered charity, so while the bottom line can’t be ignored, it’s not our priority. Clients are.

We welcome anyone who is looking for a better life through employment. We work with candidates who have degrees; we also work with people who are experiencing homelessness or experiencing a mental health condition or challenge. We can help upgrade clients' skills; we can also work with employers to help them understand disabilities. Above all, we’re creative and resourceful.

Recognizing that not everyone learns in the same way, our methods include art and the great Alberta outdoors as tools. We help young and old, people changing industries, recent immigrants, veterans, people with disabilities, and everyday Albertans who feel that the job search process has become daunting. If that sounds good to you, let’s get to work!

What will you do?
Intake
  • Meet with clients to obtain relevant information to triage to one of Prospect's programs/services; and/or referrals to other community agencies.
  • Enter clients' information into agency database with an emphasis on data integrity.
  • Maintain knowledge of all Prospect programs and services, including eligibility for each.
Information Services
  • Provide a welcoming atmosphere for all clients, including introducing Prospect services and supports.
  • Support clients in our on-site Employment Resource Centre with activities such as assistance with computers, applying for jobs, formatting resumes, etc.
  • Ensure resources available to clients in the centre are updated and relevant to current client needs and demand.
  • Facilitate workshops based on demand and in consultation with the Client Services team and Management.
Community Relations
  • Maintain knowledge of community supports and services to meet client needs.
  • Act as a liaison with community agencies for cross referrals for clients requiring outside supports.
  • Develop strong relationships with stakeholders to increase collaboration and networking.
  • Market, represent, and promote Prospect to different demographic groups via meetings, presentations, and discussions with referral sources/community partners.
  • Maintain and monitor Prospect's branding standards in marketing and communications; work with marketing/communications to update materials.
  • Maintain data including contact info, last contact, and contact frequency to identify referral trends and recommend outreach strategies.
  • Support a team of ambassadors from various programs to support community engagement opportunities.
What does it take to do this job?
  • Post-secondary education from a recognized institution and 2+ years’ experience in a similar role (considering equivalent education and experience).
  • Excellent communication (oral/written), facilitation, relationship-building, training, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organization skills with the ability to manage changing tasks and priorities.
  • Problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Experience with Salesforce is an asset.
  • Professional, driven, charismatic, reliable, and confident individual who thrives under pressure.
Further Notes
  • All employees must pass a background check.
  • Flexibility to work from the office and from home.
  • Prospect offers a comprehensive onboarding program and supports professional development.
