An established industry player is seeking an Employment, Labour and Executive Compensation Associate to join its dynamic team. This role involves providing comprehensive legal support on employer-side representation, including drafting employment agreements, advising on compensation plans, and handling workplace misconduct investigations. The ideal candidate will possess strong academic credentials, excellent communication skills, and a thorough understanding of Ontario and federal employment law. As a Davies lawyer, you will be a full group participant from day one, involved in all aspects of employer-side representation. This includes providing advice and guidance on strategic human resources matters such as drafting executive employment agreements, reviewing, revising and advising on executive compensation plans and employee incentive arrangements; drafting pleadings before administrative tribunals and civil courts; advising on investigations of allegations regarding workplace misconduct; participating in mediations and other settlement meetings; providing legal opinions, including on human rights issues; and working closely with the Corporate practice lawyers on employee matters arising from commercial transactions, such as performing due diligence, attending on diligence, deal and underwriting calls and providing input on purchase agreements. Experience with pension law matters would be an asset.
Interested candidates should have a strong academic record with excellent verbal and written communication skills, experience in a similar high-calibre employment law practice, a commitment to exceeding client expectations, a collaborative team-player attitude and the ability to efficiently manage multiple projects simultaneously. Knowledge of Ontario and federal employment law and membership in the Ontario Bar are essential.
