HR Operations is an integral partner and service provider at Kiewit. In recent years, we have gone from decentralized HR groups to a unified, shared service team, with various HR Centers of Excellence. Our vision is to be a best-in-class international HR organization.

Location

We are looking to fill this position at one of our offices in Calgary, Toronto (Oakville) or Vancouver.

Responsibilities
  • Advise, guide, and support HR Managers, Corporate HR, and legal departments on employee relations matters.
  • Document, investigate, and resolve employee-related issues and concerns effectively.
  • Conduct investigations into employment-related complaints and potential violations, including interviewing involved parties to gather information and corroborate accounts.
  • Consult and interpret policies, ensuring their dissemination, interpretation, and application.
  • Lead and engage in Human Rights initiatives, including outreach to potential applicants and organizations.
  • Collaborate with projects to ensure compliance with Canadian regulations.
  • Handle sensitive information with confidentiality.
  • Develop effective relationships across the organization to foster good employee relations.
  • Promote employee engagement through various activities and programs.
  • Attend meetings and seminars to stay updated on employee compliance and related laws; monitor trends and provide appropriate advice to the organization.
Qualifications
  • Over 4+ years of experience in Employee Relations.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrated expertise in researching, analyzing, interpreting, and applying complex policies and procedures, including employment standards and regulations.
  • Proven ability to efficiently manage multiple tasks and a diverse workload in a fast-paced environment, while handling challenging situations and meeting deadlines.
  • Willingness to travel up to 30%, sometimes on short notice.
  • Proficiency in maintaining complex databases and using technology to create efficiencies; advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
  • Cultural competency to work effectively within a diverse team.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong leadership and ability to interact with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to understand and follow instructions, including safety protocols.
  • Availability to work standard hours (8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.) at the designated location.
  • Effective communication with all levels of management while handling a diversified workload.
  • Ability to present effectively to groups.
  • Regular, reliable attendance and ability to perform physical tasks such as sitting, bending, standing, stooping, walking, talking, and listening.
  • Bilingual in English and French is preferred.
Other Requirements:
  • Work productively and meet deadlines timely.
  • Communicate and interact effectively and professionally with supervisors, employees, and others individually or in a team environment.
  • Perform work safely and effectively. Understand and follow oral and written instructions, including warning signs, equipment use, and other policies.
  • Work during normal operating hours to organize and complete work within given deadlines. Work overtime and weekends as required.

Base Compensation: 76,000 - 85,500
(Actual compensation is subject to variation due to such factors as education, experience, skillset, and/or location)
