    Why Your Role Matters :

    As an ER Case Manager (Academic Case Manager), you will play a pivotal role supporting the UNSW Business School navigate the ER space, providing expert advice and guidance on employee relations and complex industrial relations matters.

    In this newly developed position, you will drive fair and forward-thinking practices, fostering strong relationships with the Business School P&C Business Partnering team and people leaders. You will shape and implement ER strategies that proactively address payment and performance issues while championing continuous improvement initiatives within this academic space.

    Reporting to the Head of Employee Relations Advisory, you will work closely with the UNSW Business School to strengthen local capability in employment and performance management, empowering leadership teams to navigate with confidence.

    Your role focus will be :
    • Providing specialist end-to-end case management support to Heads of School, Business Partnering, and Faculty across performance management and resolution of complex matters.
    • Coordinating expert advice and, where necessary, conducting investigations to ensure objective and fair assessment in compliance with the EBA and relevant legislation.
    • Assisting in the review and development of policies and processes regarding the framework for ER case management, including diagnostic and reporting tools, templates, checklists, toolkits, and other guiding materials.
    • Ensuring advice and actions comply with applicable legislation and relevant industrial instruments to mitigate risk and ensure appropriate resolution.
    Who You Are :

    We're seeking a forward-thinking, experienced ER specialist who can lead and support their business area through end-to-end case management. With an extensive background in providing sound ER advice to stakeholders, you'll bring a practiced approach to shaping and applying ER and HR practices in a large, diverse organization. Required skills and experience include :

    • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline and significant experience in delivering effective case management, providing employee relations advice to line management, and dealing with employee unions in a large, complex organization.
    • Ability to influence, build strong working relationships, and gain trust from senior stakeholders.
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, and effective writing and documentation skills.
    • Ability to interact with, consult, coach, and advise senior stakeholders.
    • Capacity to plan, achieve priority outcomes, and respond flexibly to changing circumstances.
    • Generalist HR/ER knowledge and experience gained in unionized environments.
    • Specialist and up-to-date employment relations and employment law knowledge, skills, and experience.
    • Knowledge and capacity to interpret legislation, industrial agreements, and policies to implement appropriate guidance and advice frameworks, as well as to facilitate increased HR and leader capability to foster an effective and high-performing workplace culture.
    • An understanding of the context and culture of the higher education sector is desirable but not required.
