Job summary

SmartCentres REIT in Vaughan, Ontario, is seeking an Assistant Project Manager - Construction to oversee retail construction projects within the portfolio, ensuring cost, schedule, quality and tenant satisfaction align with company policies.

You will support budgeting, contract administration, cost tracking and coordination with architects, engineers, tenants and suppliers, reporting to the Senior Director of the Special Projects Group and collaborating with the construction team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or construction management.
• Strong understanding of construction drawings and specifications.
• Knowledge of building codes and construction methods.
• Excellent written and verbal communication across management levels.

Responsibilities

• Oversee architectural or civil design aspects of the project.
• Assist in budgeting and cost forecasting.
• Administer prime contracts, subcontracts, and purchase orders.
• Monitor costs through change orders and contract adjustments.
• Coordinate with tenants, architects, engineers, and suppliers to align on scope and costs.
• Support project closeout documentation and archiving.
