Main Purpose and Function
The Emergency Planning Coordinator I develops and coordinates programs, and manages projects within the Vancouver Emergency Management Agency and consults with internal and external stakeholders to develop emergency plans, guidelines and procedures; chairs and/or supports local, regional and provincial planning initiatives. The position is responsible for developing, delivering and evaluating training to staff and volunteers in the form of in-person courses, workshops and exercises and coordinates and supports the administration, training, and deployment of staff and/or volunteer emergency teams to support response to planned and unplanned events.

Where operationally appropriate and subject to change, the City of Vancouver has a Flexible Work Program. This program allows staff to work a hybrid work week from locations that are a daily commutable distance from their work at a City worksite. At this time this position is eligible to be part of the Flexible Work Program.
