Job description

The MMF seeks to fill 10 Emergency Management Support Worker positions located at 406 McGregor Avenue and 25 Ray Marius Road in Winnipeg, MB. This is a temporary position lasting 4 weeks with the possibility of an extension, offering a minimum of 40 hours per week at a rate of $ per hour. Meals are included. In response to the current wildfire emergency, we are urgently looking for support to assist with evacuees displaced by the fires. This is a rewarding opportunity in supporting essential needs of evacuees from all over Manitoba, with the pride and commitment of the MMF, the National Government of the Red River Métis.

  • MMF Evacuation Centre - evacuee greeting, assisting with food and beverages, supporting evacuees
  • MMF Donations - accepting, sorting, and organizing donations
  • Kitchen assistance - preparing and assembling meals
  • Administrative, minute-taking and report writing support
  • Ensure people are safe, and comfortable
  • Offer compassionate, caring, trauma-informed care

Skills and Qualifications :

  • Experience in emergency response, social work, community aid, customer service, or related fields is helpful but not required
  • Trauma informed skills and experience in crisis management is an asset
  • Willingness to work flexible shifts, including weekends
  • Reliability and punctuality
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Experience working for a not-for-profit organization and Indigenous community is an asset
