Qualifications

• Grade 12 education or equivalent as per Ontario standards.
• Current Ontario Certificate of Qualification as Maintenance Electrician 309A or approved equivalent.
• Valid non-probationary Class G Ontario Driver’s Licence; willingness to obtain Class D with Z endorsement.
• Knowledge of HVAC systems, BAS, CMMS, plumbing, and basic carpentry; formal education preferred.
• Knowledge of the Ontario Building Code.
• Strong organizational, customer service, and verbal/written communication skills.
• Reliable, able to work independently and in a team; able to lift and stand for long periods.
• Willing to wear uniform and PPE; able to work shift work including holidays/weekends.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoots building and emergency apparatus systems; diagnoses electrical, mechanical, and building issues.
• Monitors and operates Building Automation Systems; initiates corrective actions.
• Supports day-to-day operations via CMMS.
• Interprets system schematics and building plans.
• Oversees maintenance services and coordinates with contractors as needed.
• Ensures on-site work orders are completed efficiently and safely.
• Maintains quality through inspections and reporting of defects.
• Keeps updated on new building and system technologies and recommends improvements.
• Participates in design, planning, and construction of new facilities and renovations.
• Performs routine building repairs and minor construction tasks.
• Maintains electrical generation/distribution systems (120/240V).
• Maintains high-pressure breathing air compressors and related systems.
• Develops and manages annual facility repair budgets.
• Produces reports and forecasts for facilities management to Division Chief.
• Maintains site logbooks and equipment documentation.
• Assists other departments with tasks as required.
