Job description

Join a Team that’s Raising the Bar in Emergency and Continuity Management

At CCEM Strategies, we are setting new standards in emergency management and business continuity. We don't settle for old-school, cookie-cutter solutions. Rather, our clients come to us for effective strategies that are tailored not only to their specific requirements, but also to the unique needs of the communities they serve.

We are on a mission to enhance community resilience by working with clients in various industries, including (but not limited to) local, provincial, and federal government, First Nations, and industry clients associated with energy delivery, supply chain, transportation, and manufacturing. We listen compassionately and strategize creatively to deliver solutions that help our clients and their communities prepare for, respond to, and recover from emergencies confidently.

What you’ll do

As an Emergency and Continuity Management Specialist, you will lead the development, implementation, and maintenance of comprehensive and customized emergency management and business continuity programs. While providing CCEM’s public and private sector clients with expert guidance on emergency preparedness and business continuity regulations, industry standards and best practices, you will also:

  1. Do intellectually satisfying work while creating positive change across industries and communities.
  2. Be a trusted advisor and partner to our clients; personify their best interests when determining how CCEM can add the most value to improve their resilience, and guide them through each step of the process.
  3. Take projects from start to finish, by:
    1. Assessing our clients’ existing emergency management and business continuity programs.
    2. Conducting gap analyses against industry standards and regulations.
    3. Developing and conducting training, and facilitating operational and functional exercises.
    4. Driving continuous improvement for clients through progress tracking and learnings.
    5. Proactively identifying and resolving potential hiccups to ensure project success.
    6. Working collaboratively and mentoring other team members, sharing your knowledge, and leading by example.

Travel as needed to client sites and to participate in engagement workshops, training and exercises (up to 10% depending on business needs).

Uphold CCEM’s established level of excellence in every deliverable.

What we offer

The work we do is as important and demanding as it is impactful and rewarding. Our workplace culture stems from a shared understanding of the significance and purpose of our work, and the need to balance that with an environment where we are encouraged to unwind and respect downtime.

We offer a flexible hybrid work model (2-4 days in-office) with the opportunity to set your own schedule around our core hours for optimal work-life balance. We dedicate time to connect both virtually and through regular in-person team outings and activities. We extend our care for the community through CCEM’s give-back initiatives to support causes that are meaningful to our team members.

We reward excellence with competitive base salaries and performance-based bonuses and incentives so that your earning potential is always aligned with the value you bring. In addition, our perks and benefits include:

  • RRSP matching.
  • Starting allocation of 3 weeks’ vacation.
  • Extended health and dental benefits.
  • Performance-based bonus program.
  • Annual professional development allowance.
  • Employee referral incentive program.
  • Client referral incentive program.

So, are you a fit?

We are a high-achieving, growth focused, and highly collaborative team. We hold ourselves and each other to a consistent level of excellence and commit to only delivering truly fantastic end products. We take pride in going above and beyond our clients’ expectations and are motivated by the rave reviews we receive. We take every opportunity to learn by taking on progressively more complex projects, and we provide a transparent, skills-based career progression framework for team members, supported by our investment in professional development.

Chances are, you’re right for this role if you:

  • Feel energized and thrive in fast-paced environments; you think on your feet and are always ready to pivot.
  • Like to think outside the box, are a master problem solver and continually bring new ideas.
  • Sweat the details that others might think are inconsequential.
  • Are a skillful communicator and have impeccable business writing skills, with the ability to adjust your tone depending on the context.
  • Embrace feedback, both positive and constructive, as fuel for improvement.

Think you’ve got what it takes? Yay! Here are a few more boxes we’re also hoping you can tick:

  • A Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Emergency Management, Business Continuity or a related field, and a minimum of three to five years of directly related work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Comprehensive knowledge and experience in emergency and continuity management, stakeholder engagement, communication, and project management.
  • Knowledge of emergency management standards and best practices (for example, CSAZ1600, ISO22301, BCEMS, ICS, etc.).

Nice to have:

  • Knowledge of industry regulations (for example, Transport Canada, Environment Canada, NEB, AER, OGC, IMDG, etc.).
  • Knowledge of and/or education in climate sciences / climate adaptation.
  • Experience mentoring emerging professionals.

If you’re looking for an opportunity to be challenged, develop your expertise, grow your career and have some fun along the way, then we want to hear from you!
