Job summary

Gentex Corporation in Ottawa is seeking an Embedded Software Engineer II to design, develop, and test software for our embedded platforms. You'll work with cross-functional teams to meet product requirements and contribute across the full development lifecycle.

The role requires a Bachelor's in Electrical/Computer Engineering or Computer Science, 2+ years in software development, strong C/C++, embedded systems, and experience with Linux, RTOS, and modern toolchains.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related discipline.
2+ years of technical experience in all phases of software development lifecycle.
In-depth knowledge of embedded systems and electronics components.
Proficiency in C, C++, assembly languages, and real time operating systems.
Proficiency in Linux and MS Office Suite.

Responsibilities

Execution of full development lifecycle including requirements, design, development, test and validation.
Coordinate with cross‑functional teams across hardware, mechanical, product and software projects.
Design and implement features for embedded platforms, including cameras, SoCs, sensors and drivers.
Participate in code reviews, estimation and planning meetings.
Contribute to process improvement and software compliance activities.
Assist in recruiting and screening candidates as needed.
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members.
Other duties as assigned.
