Job description

We are looking for a Test Technician or Technologist to join our Research & Development team. You will work closely with hardware design, systems engineering, software development, and project teams to support the development and validation of high-performance products for the global market.

You will play a key role in the verification and validation (V&V) process, focusing on functional and application testing with a strong customer-oriented approach. This role involves test design, execution of test plans, and validation of protection relay and networking products.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure software quality by creating and applying embedded software (firmware) tests.

  • Develop and update test plans; execute test activities with a focus on improving strategy and test management processes.

  • Perform regression testing to ensure bug fixes and new features do not cause issues elsewhere in the system.

  • Apply standard QA procedures and methodologies.

  • Use analytical thinking to contribute to validation strategy and resolve technical issues.

  • Collaborate and communicate effectively with cross-functional teams.

  • Log, track, and manage defects using tools like Jira.

Candidate Profile:

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Solid understanding of testing concepts and QA best practices.

  • Knowledge of protection relay protocols:

    • IEC 61850 GOOSE

    • SV IEC 61850-9-2LE

    • IEC 61869-9

    • Modbus, DNP3, IEC 60870-5-103

  • Familiarity with networking equipment such as switches, VLANs, and routers.

  • Experience with log analysis and crash diagnosis.

  • Strong experience using bug tracking and test management tools (e.g., Jira).

  • Background in power systems or electrical substations is a strong asset.

  • Strong problem-solving, critical thinking, and analytical skills.

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

  • Networking: Routers, switches, VLAN
