Job summary

Evertz in Burlington, Ontario is seeking an Embedded Software Engineer to design, implement, and maintain embedded software for our broadcast products. You will collaborate across teams to bring new features to life and ensure tight hardware‑software integration.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Electrical/Computer/Mechatronics Engineering or Computer Science.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in embedded software field.
  • Proficient in C++, C, Python and debugging skills.
  • Experience with Qt development and RTOS/Embedded Linux environments.
  • Familiar with I2C, SPI, USB, Ethernet interfaces and board-level troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

  • Design embedded software for company products.
  • Create, support and debug software and firmware.
  • Adapt products for new requirements.
  • Document design, analysis and test results.
  • Provide architectural design, modular coding, HW/FW integration and production support.
  • Develop and add new features based on feedback and management direction.

Job description

We're looking for a passionate Embedded Software Engineer to join our development team, where you'll play a key role in designing, implementing, and maintaining embedded software for cutting‑edge products. In this role, you’ll collaborate cross‑functionally to bring new features to life, adapt existing systems for evolving needs, and ensure seamless hardware‑software integration.

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for the design of embedded software to be used in the company’s products
  • Create, support and debug software and firmware
  • Adapt existing products for new requirements and uses
  • Create and maintain documentation of the design, analysis and test results
  • Provide architectural design, modular code design, code documentation, HW/FW integration, production implementation and support
  • Responsible for adding new features or otherwise modify firmware/software based on management direction and customer feedback
  • Perform other duties as assigned and adhere to company policies and procedures
Qualifications
  • Must possess a degree in Electrical/Computer/Mechatronics Engineering or Computer Science
  • A minimum of one year of experience in the field
  • C++, C, Python programming and debugging skills
  • Experience in Qt development
  • Real‑Time Operating Systems, Embedded Linux, FreeRTOS and Device Driver experience is essential
  • Object‑oriented design with some programming techniques; data structures
  • Knowledge of digital hardware (SoC, ARM, FPGA)
  • Experienced with device control interfaces, such as I2C, SPI, USB, PCIe, Ethernet; able to perform board level troubleshooting
  • Familiar with Data Communication Network and associated Layer 2 and 3 protocols
  • Cloud and AI knowledge is a bonus

Location: Burlington, Ontario (in‑office position)

Hours: Monday - Friday, 40 hours.

Vacancy: This is an existing position.

Salary Range: $60,000 to $90,000 CAD per annum
