Job summary

Luxcom Technologies Inc. is seeking a Hardware/Firmware Designer to support the design and development of embedded networking products. The role focuses on electronic circuit design with microcontrollers and FPGAs, firmware development, and PCB design for networking devices.

The successful candidate will participate in all phases of development, including architecture, schematic capture, FPGA and microcontroller design, PCB layout, prototype bring-up, testing, and manufacturing support.

Qualifications

• Degree or diploma in Electrical Engineering or Electronics Engineering Technology or equivalent experience.
• Experience with schematic capture and PCB design.
• Experience with FPGA development and microcontroller-based systems.
• Proficiency in C and MicroPython programming.

Responsibilities

• Design electronic circuits for embedded networking systems.
• Develop schematics and PCB layouts.
• Integrate microcontrollers, FPGAs, Ethernet PHYs, and switching devices.
• Develop firmware for embedded processors and microcontrollers.
• Design and integrate FPGA-based logic using VHDL, Verilog, or vendor toolchains.
• Interface with Ethernet PHYs, switches, and networking chipsets.
• Work with interfaces such as SPI, I2C, UART, RGMII, and JTAG.
• Produce schematics, BOMs, design documentation, and manufacturing files.
• Support prototype builds and hardware debugging.
• Perform board bring-up and validation.
• Conduct lab testing with oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and network analyzers.

Role Overview

Luxcom Technologies is seeking a Hardware/Firmware Designer to support the design and development of embedded networking products used in a variety of communications environments including fibre-optic communication systems.

This position focuses on electronic circuit design with microcontrollers and FPGAs, firmware development and PCB design for networking devices.

This role requires someone comfortable working across embedded firmware, digital hardware, and networking technologies.

The successful candidate will participate in all phases of development, including architecture, schematic capture, FPGA and microcontroller design, PCB layout, prototype bring-up, testing, and manufacturing support.

• Design electronic circuits for embedded networking systems
• Develop schematics and PCB layouts

Required Qualifications

• MINIMUM 5 YEARS OF INDUSTRY WORK EXPERIENCE
• Degree or diploma in Electrical Engineering or Electronics Engineering Technology or equivalent experience
• Experience with schematic capture and PCB design
• Experience working with FPGA (Xilinx, Intel/Altera, Lattice, or similar) development & microcontroller-based systems
• Proficiency in C & micropython programming
• Familiarity with networking interfaces and Ethernet hardware
• Familiarity with Ethernet and networking hardware

Preferred Experience

• Experience designing PCIe or mPCIe hardware
• Embedded Linux
• Optical networking systems
• Synchronous serial interfaces
• HDLC communications
