A Snapshot of Your Day

Electrification-Automation-Digitalization (EAD) is seeking an Embedded Service Engineer with experience in servicing large variable speed drive solutions for compressor applications in the oil and gas industry.

The engineer will be based at a Siemens Energy customer site (Woodfiber site in BC) and serve as the Siemens Energy representative for all power and drive train activities, including troubleshooting, testing, maintaining, and commissioning solutions using Siemens Energy drive systems and industry technology to meet customer requirements or resolve issues. Coordination with local engineering teams to recommend and deliver high-quality technical solutions is essential.

The ideal candidate will have a strong educational background and industrial experience, focusing on power electronic systems, with extensive hands-on experience. A passion for the field and a drive to learn and address new challenges are critical. The engineer must develop customer relationships, work accurately and in detail, and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment. The position requires full-time stationing at the jobsite.

How You’ll Make an Impact

  • Commission compressor VFD (variable frequency drive) systems and perform preventative maintenance.
  • Diagnose issues and develop plans to resolve or improve performance of drivetrain solutions.
  • Stay updated on industrial solutions and new product developments within Siemens Energy.
  • Plan workload, coordinate resources, and execute maintenance outages on power and drivetrain systems, ensuring timely completion.
  • Interface directly with customers to address questions and resolve issues; collaborate with design engineers for testing, commissioning, troubleshooting, and updating system drawings.
  • Work standard 40 hours/week at the customer facility, with overtime and domestic/international travel (up to 10%).

What You Bring

  • BSc in Engineering or relevant experience; electrical engineering preferred, but other fields considered.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in LNG or related industries; candidates with more experience may be considered for higher roles.
  • Hands-on VFD experience with a background in drive/motor system design, service, or commissioning.
  • Familiarity with North American and international codes and standards, safety procedures, and project-specific documentation.
  • Experience in power distribution solutions, PLC/control systems, compressor systems, or liquefaction is preferred.
  • Legal authorization to work in Canada without employer sponsorship; Siemens employees with current visa sponsorship may be eligible for internal transfers.
