Job summary

The Government of Nova Scotia, Department of Labour, Skills and Immigration in Dartmouth, seeks an Elevator Inspector to enforce the Elevator and Lifts Act, Amusement Devices Safety Act, and related regulations province-wide. You will perform inspections, provide information and direction, and prepare reports for stakeholders.

Required are High School plus related trade/technical training with 7 years' experience, a Class A Elevator Certificate, and strong communication with knowledge of

Qualifications

• To be successful you have completed High School and completion of a related trade or technical training in design, construction, maintenance and inspection of elevating devices, plus 7 years of related experience after the course completion.
• An equivalent combination of training and experience may be acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Enforce Elevator and Lifts Act and Amusements Devices Safety Act across the province, including immediate orders and tickets.
• Review design drawings and specifications for elevators, lifts and amusement rides for compliance.
• Prepare monthly activity and status reports and attend meetings and correspondence.
• Possess strong communication and interpersonal skills and ability to interpret regulations.
