THE OPPORTUNITY: ELEMENTARY VICE- PRINCIPAL

In this elementary leadership position, you will support success for all learners by working alongside the principal and district management team to align school goals with the priorities in the VSB Education Plan. You will help lead sustainable initiatives that improve student achievement and foster a safe, caring, and inclusive school culture. Through strong instructional leadership and a deep understanding of curriculum, you will create conditions in which staff can thrive and all students can reach their full potential. As a champion of equity and inclusion, you will proactively identify and address barriers to achievement so that every learner feels valued, respected, and supported.

In collaboration with the principal, students, staff, families, inherent rights holders, and stakeholders, you will help develop a shared educational vision and translate it into an actionable school plan. You will use qualitative and quantitative data to help set priorities, allocate resources, and improve student achievement. You will also support student records, budgets, staffing, timetabling, scheduling, school activities, and staff professional development. In addition to administrative responsibilities, elementary vice-principals will have a teaching assignment.

You bring strong organizational, problem-solving, and conflict-resolution skills. You understand school governance and its influence on school operations, and you exercise delegated supervisory responsibilities respectfully within a complex unionized environment. You motivate and collaborate with others to build strong school and community relationships, manage competing priorities effectively, listen actively, reflect on your practice, communicate openly and transparently, and meaningfully engage parents and guardians in the life of the school.

Along with having completed, or being actively working toward, a master's degree in a related field, you hold a valid B.C. Professional Teaching Certificate and have successful performance evaluations, a positive employment record free of discipline, and regular attendance. Your application will highlight a broad portfolio of experience gained through working in a variety of schools, communities, and roles.
