Full-Time Elementary Teacher for the 2025-2026 School Year

Conklin Community School

Northland School Division is seeking an Elementary Teacher at Conklin Community School for the 2025-2026 school year, starting August 25th, 2025. Conklin is a kindergarten to grade 9 school located in the hamlet of Conklin, the southernmost community in the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo. It is a quiet, rural community approximately 155 kilometres southeast of Fort McMurray, accessible via Alberta Highways 63 and 881. Major Responsibilities include:

  • Following the prescribed program of studies for each subject taught.
  • Planning and executing daily lessons based on short, medium, and long-term planning.
  • Providing feedback to students and parents in a timely manner.
  • Championing Cree language and culture revitalization and curriculum infusion.
  • Supporting school, parent, and community engagement.
  • Possessing strong interpersonal skills and committing to collaborative decision-making.
  • Promoting differentiated instruction to meet diverse learning needs.

Qualifications and Requirements include:

  • Holding or qualifying for Alberta teaching certification and a Teaching Quality Standard certificate.
  • Possessing a Bachelor of Education (BEd.) degree.
  • Having successful teaching experience in rural and/or Indigenous communities.

Applicants who receive a successful evaluation may have the opportunity to obtain a continuous contract. If you have leadership skills that support literacy and language improvement through an Indigenous perspective at the school and division levels, Northland School Division is the place for you.
