About the Opportunity

Łuwechōn Kots’ede’i Kime is lookingfor full-time, committed educatorsto join our team inIskut, BC. We currently have openings for:

  • Grade 4/5 Teacher
  • Grade 6/7 Teacher
  • Grade 10 Connected Classrooms Teacher

Reporting to the Principal, you will take an active role in shaping a welcoming, student-centred classroom while supporting a culturally grounded learning environment that honours the Tahltan Nation.

In this position, you will be primarily responsible for engaging students through inquiry-based teaching, supporting academic and personal growth, and participating in cultural and community-based learning. We are looking for teachers who are not only passionate about education, but who are also eager to embrace Indigenous culture, build meaningful relationships, and become part of the community.

More specifically, your responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Delivering engaging, inquiry-based and project-based lessons aligned to individual student needs
  • Developing and overseeing individual learning plans to support diverse academic, physical, or behavioural needs
  • Supporting student participation in cultural learning, including on-the-land activities such as fishing, hunting, medicine harvesting, and traditional arts
  • Collaborating regularly with Educational Assistants, Cultural Workers, community Knowledge Keepers, and allied professionals such as speech-language pathologists or occupational therapists
  • Participating in student evaluations, maintaining accurate records, and attending parent-teacher conferences
  • Enforcing school discipline policies, managing classroom behaviour, and modelling professionalism and confidentiality
  • Creating an inclusive and student-centered classroom that fosters emotional, social, and cultural development
  • Actively engaging with and building strong relationships within the Iskut community
  • Participating in school events, extracurricular activities, and ongoing professional development
  • Maintaining student safety during classroom activities, outdoor learning, field trips, and all other school-based experiences

To qualify, you will needa Bachelor of Education,current membership in good standing with the BC College of Teachers, and teaching experience is strongly preferred, particularly in a First Nations or Indigenous learning environment.

The following are required:

  • Ability toundergo a criminal recordandvulnerable sector check
  • Current First Aid/CPR certificationor willingness to obtain
  • Valid driver’s licenseandaccess to a reliable vehicle
  • Willingness to relocate to Iskut, BC, and live in a remote community

  • Knowledge of culturally responsive and trauma-informed teaching practices
