Overview

Waterloo Region District School Board (WRDSB) serves approximately 65,000 students in 123 schools, as well as alternative and continuing education sites. WRDSB is committed to creating learning environments that support the achievement and well-being of all students through partnering with staff, parents, families, caregivers and communities to promote success in learning and life. In Ontario, you must be certified by the Ontario College of Teachers (OCT) to teach in the province’s publicly funded schools. The Waterloo Region District School Board is seeking applications for our Elementary Occasional Teacher Roster (JK-8).

Qualifications

Required Qualificatons include:

  • Teachers in Good Standing with the Ontario College of Teachers (OCT) who can provide evidence of meaningful experiences working with adolescents and/or youth. Experiences may include paid, volunteer, and practicum experiences. Appointments will be effective upon receipt of OCT certification confirmation and required documentation from successful candidates.
  • Current Year 2 Faculty of Education students scheduled to graduate in Spring/Summer 2026. Conditional offers to be placed on the Elementary Occasional Teacher Roster will be made to successful applicants until such time as OCT qualifications and certification are confirmed.

If you are an existing Elementary Occasional Teacher with the WRDSB you DO NOT need to apply to this posting. Current WRDSB Secondary Occasional Teachers wishing to transfer to the Elementary Occasional Teacher Roster may apply; however, if successful you will be removed from the WRDSB Secondary Occasional Teacher Roster.

The Board continues to engage candidates in different methods of interviewing for vacancies. NOTE that interviews will be conducted, in part, in French for ALL applicants with French OCT qualifications.
