Job description

Position: Electronics Technologist

The Electronics Technologist is responsible for managing all aspects of electrical design for projects within the organization’s field. The role involves providing solutions to technical problems, job planning, and ensuring quality production. This position oversees the design, testing, and continuous development of electrical equipment, components, and systems as assigned.

Responsibilities
  1. Troubleshoot and repair all assembling equipment promptly, utilizing knowledge of Ethernet communication, control logic, and PLCs (Omron & Allen Bradley).
  2. Repair and maintain robotic devices and computer-controlled systems.
  3. Monitor meters and gauges to ensure proper machine operation.
  4. Investigate machine/system failures and perform repairs, applying skills in pneumatics, manufacturing processes, electricity, electronics, and mechanical systems.
  5. Utilize knowledge in electronics, mechanics, and computers to diagnose and repair system failures efficiently.
  6. Ensure safety standards are consistently followed.
  7. Respond to emergency troubleshooting needs for mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic equipment.
  8. Perform monthly EPV audits and implement corrections as needed.
  9. Maintain effective communication across departments and with peers.
  10. Provide technical support for projects, installations, and repairs.
  11. Investigate and recommend upgrades or changes to equipment.
  12. Upgrade hardware and software for process improvements.
  13. Communicate findings, upgrades, and troubleshooting results to colleagues and management via email, messages, and calls.
  14. Ensure proper calibration and maintenance of all machines.
  15. Conduct system operation training for automated systems.
  16. Assist with the specification, installation, and modification of systems.
Qualifications
  1. Community College Diploma in Engineering Technology.
  2. 3-5 years of experience in machine controls and PLC programming.
  3. Automation experience is required.
  4. Proven project management skills (or relevant experience).
  5. Experience with CADKey and PLC programming.
  6. Proven troubleshooting and programming skills with robotics.
  7. Ability to design control circuits and generate electrical schematics.
  8. Strong understanding of engineering principles.
  9. Excellent communication, presentation, and verbal skills.
  10. Ability to communicate technical ideas clearly to non-engineers.
  11. Knowledge of Canadian electrical standards.
  12. Experience with pneumatic/hydraulic controls, sensors, and control wiring.
  13. Knowledge of regional electrical codes.
  14. Strong problem-solving skills and mathematical aptitude.
  15. Ability to develop alternative solutions to technical problems.
