Job summary

D‑Wave is seeking a hands‑on Electronics Production Assembler I, II, or III to join our Engineering and Production team in Burnaby. You’ll assemble and test electronic and electro‑mechanical systems powering our quantum computers, working with Engineering and Lab Technicians to ensure high quality, safety, and performance.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; post-secondary technical training is an asset.
  • Experience in electronics, electro-mechanical assembly, manufacturing, or related environment.
  • Strong manual dexterity, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to read and follow technical documentation and BOMs.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble electro-mechanical and cable assemblies, electrical components, connectors, wiring, and harnesses.
  • Perform manual SMT soldering, including fine-pitch components and PCB rework under magnification.
  • Read and follow engineering drawings, schematics, BOMs, assembly instructions, and other manufacturing documentation.
  • Perform inspections and testing to verify quality and product specifications.
  • Complete production records, work orders, and inventory documentation.
  • Troubleshoot assembly issues and communicate technical questions, delays, and improvement opportunities.
  • Support improvements to assembly methods, tooling, techniques, and documentation.
  • Follow safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work area.
  • Provide general lab and production support as required.

About the role

D-Wave is seeking a hands‑on Electronics Production Assembler I, II, or III to join our Engineering and Production team. You’ll assemble and test the electronic and electro‑mechanical systems that power our state‑of‑the‑art quantum computers.

Working closely with Engineering, Lab Technicians, and Engineering Change Control, you’ll help ensure assemblies meet high standards for quality, safety, and performance while contributing to continuous improvement across our processes and systems.

What you’ll do
  • Assemble electro‑mechanical and cable assemblies, electrical components, connectors, wiring, and harnesses.

Required

  • Experience in electronics, electro‑mechanical assembly, manufacturing, or a related environment.
  • Strong manual dexterity, attention to detail, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to work with hand tools, soldering equipment, microscopes, and basic test equipment.
  • Ability to read and follow technical documentation and BOMs.
  • Reliable, self‑motivated, and collaborative, with a commitment to quality and safety.
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods and lift up to 30 lbs or more.
  • Flexibility to support peak production periods as needed.
  • Willingness to support lab, field, production, or shop activities as required.
  • Commitment to safe work practices, quality workmanship, and respectful collaboration.
Level Expectations
Electronics Production Assembler I

Developing foundational skills and learning D-Wave’s processes, tools, and equipment.

  • Performs routine work using detailed instructions and established procedures.
  • Works under close supervision and seeks guidance when needed.
  • Builds proficiency in core assembly and production skills.
  • Typically new to the role, with less than 1 year of related experience.
Electronics Production Assembler II

An experienced assembler who works independently on established processes and semi‑routine tasks.

  • Applies established procedures and judgment to complete assigned work.
  • Resolves straightforward issues and seeks guidance when work falls outside established processes.
  • Works with increasing independence and contributes practical ideas for improvement.
  • Typically gained through 2+ years of related experience.
Electronics Production Assembler III

A highly proficient assembler who independently handles a broad range of work and applies sound judgment.

  • Performs moderately complex work with minimal supervision.
  • Troubleshoots issues, resolves problems, and makes recommendations.
  • Identifies opportunities to improve processes, quality, and efficiency.
  • May provide guidance and support to less experienced team members.
  • Typically gained through 4+ years of related experience.
Nice to Have
  • Fine‑pitch SMT soldering and PCB rework experience.
  • Experience working under a microscope or with electronics test equipment.
  • Experience in a startup, R&D, or low‑volume, high‑complexity production environment.

The base pay range for this role is:

Level I: $44k - $60k CAD per year (Burnaby)

Level II: $51k - $69k CAD per year (Burnaby)

Level III: $57k - $78k CAD per year (Burnaby)
