Job summary

D-Wave is seeking an experienced Electronic Production Assembler II to join our Engineering and Production team. You will perform sub-assemblies of electro-mechanical assemblies, test electronic components, and systems of our one-of-a-kind quantum computing hardware, ensuring conformity to specs, quality standards, and safe manufacturing.

The role requires a post-secondary technical diploma, 4+ years in complex electro-mechanical assembly, and hands-on SMT soldering under microscopes, plus BOM

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary technical diploma or equivalent education and experience.
  • 4+ years of experience assembling complex electro-mechanical assemblies.
  • Strong, hands-on SMT soldering on PCBs, including microscopic work.
  • Familiar with engineering drawings, BOMs, test equipment, and inspection.
  • Knowledge of pressure pipe fittings, valves, HVAC is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, assembly instructions and schematics.
  • Assemble electro-mechanical subassemblies and cable assemblies with precision.
  • Manually solder SMT components on PCBs under magnification.
  • Install, align, and fasten parts for wiring harnesses and subassemblies.
  • Troubleshoot assembly issues and improve techniques and documentation.
  • Complete production logs, work orders and track component inventory.
  • Maintain tools and equipment and follow safety protocols.

About the role

D-Wave is seeking experiencedElectronic Production AssemblerIlIto join our Engineering and Production team. In this role, you willperform the sub-assemblies of electro-mechanical assemblies, as well astesting electronic components, products, and systemsof our one-of-a-kind quantum computing systems. This role ensures that all assemblies meet product specifications, quality standards, and are manufactured efficiently and safely. Additionally, you will work closely with our Lab Technicians and Engineering Change Control to push continuous improvement to our systems and processes. If youthrivein a fast-paced, flexible, team-orientedenvironment with astrongfocus on delivering results,this is the role for you!

What you'll do
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, assembly instructions, and schematics
  • Assembleproducts which include electro-mechanical subassemblies and cable assembliesensuring proper alignment and fit
  • Manually solder SMT (Surface Mount Technology) components on PCBs witha high levelof precision and consistency; this includes fine-pitch components and rework under magnification
  • Assemble and integrate various electrical componentsin accordance withmanufacturing documentation
  • Perform fine hand assembly of microcircuits;utilizecable crimping tools asrequired
  • Install, mount, fasten,alignand adjust parts, components, connector for wiring and harnesses to subassemblies and assemblies
  • Contribute yourexpertiseto troubleshoot and improve designs and communicate any assembly issues or production delays, and help develop and improve assembly techniques and documentation
  • Complete production logs, work orders, and assembly records and track inventory of electronic components and parts used in assembly
  • Follow all safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment and regularly inspect andmaintaintools and equipment to ensure they are in good working condition
  • Provide general lab maintenance and support
About You
  • Post-Secondary technical diploma or the equivalent education and experience
  • 4+years of experience assembling complex electro-mechanical assemblies
  • Strong, hands-on experience with manual SMT soldering on PCBs (critical requirement), including work under microscopes and with fine-pitch components
  • Familiar with electro-mechanical engineering drawings and the use of microscopes, Multi-Meters, Heat Guns, and Weller Soldering Controllers
  • Good understanding of Multi-Level Bill of Materials (BOM)
  • Experience in pressure pipe fittings, assembling valves and HVAC are an asset
  • Manual dexterity and the ability to handle small, delicateelectronic components
  • Strongorganizational, problem solving, interpersonal and communications skills
  • Self-motivated, proactive, with attention to detail and ability to perform tasks accuratelyandwith minimal supervision
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods
  • Able to lift and move heavy objects up to 30lbs or more
