About the Position
AUG Signals is developing intelligent systems for environmental and transportation monitoring. As an Electronics & Mechanical Support Technician, you will evaluate new sensors and low-power electronic components; assist in assembling PCBs, collecting and analyzing data, as well as test and install environmental sensing equipment in the field.
You will be responsible for:
- Taking electrical designs from a conceptual stage through to assembly and release
- Creating validation reports and conducting tests to ensure optimal system performance
- Working with other team members, contact manufacturers, and vendors to support design, production and post-sales efforts
- Field installation and maintenance of online sensing equipment
- Seeking out and evaluating the latest technologies (including competitive analysis) to determine their potential applications in company projects
- Assisting the operation of the company, e.g., ensuring the availability of the company-wide network and computers/printers to maintain a productive working environment

Required Technical Skills:
- 2+ years experience working with electronic & mechanical instruments/equipment for industrial and/or scientific applications
- Hands-on experience soldering electronic components (e.g., SMD soldering), crimping wires, etc., to build electronic circuits
- Experience with testing electrical circuits and test equipment (schematic capture, standard power characterization, and functional tests using oscilloscopes, DMMs, VNAs)
- Familiarity with operating principles, design, and integration of online industrial/environmental sensors
Desired Soft Skills:
- Proven technical writing and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work well independently and as part of a team
Bonus Points For:
- Experience with mechanical design, drafting, and prototyping (CAD tools e.g., SOLIDWORKS, hands-on experience with building mechanical prototypes and integrating with electronics)
- Programming experience on microcontrollers, e.g., Arduino
- Prototyping analytics processes, e.g., using MATLAB
- Familiarity with communication protocols and bus technologies (Ethernet, USB, I2C, I2S, LVDS, PCIe, etc.)
- Willingness to work on flexible hours
- Valid Ontario driver’s license
