Job summary

Maxtech Electronics Inc. in Coquitlam, BC is seeking a hands-on Electronics Assembly Technician to support PCB assembly and quality control, with a focus on through-hole soldering, inspection, and rework to ensure consistent quality.

You will follow engineering drawings and BOMs, check components for correct values and orientation, inspect solder joints with magnification, and record QC results for the production team.

Qualifications

• Hands-on PCB hand soldering experience
• Ability to read and follow assembly drawings and BOMs
• IPC‑A‑610 knowledge is preferred but not required

Responsibilities

• Hand solder through-hole components onto PCB
• Perform basic surface-mount soldering and rework as required
• Follow assembly drawings, BOMs and work instructions
• Check component values, placement, polarity and orientation
• Inspect solder joints and assemblies using magnification
• Identify defects (solder bridges, cold joints, missing parts)
• Complete repairs and flag issues for review
• Support basic testing, board cleaning, final assembly and packaging
• Record QC results and communicate issues to production team
• Follow ESD procedures and established quality requirements

Permanent position — full-time or part-time

Pay: CA$21–CA$25 per hour

About the role

Maxtech Electronics is looking for a hands‑on Electronics Assembly Technician to support our PCB assembly and quality control team. The role focuses on through-hole soldering, inspecting assembled boards, and completing rework to ensure consistent quality.

Responsibilities

• Hand solder through-hole components onto printed circuit boards.
• Perform basic surface‑mount soldering, component replacement, and rework as required.
• Follow assembly drawings, bills of materials, and work instructions.
• Check component values, placement, polarity, and orientation.
• Inspect solder joints and completed assemblies using magnification or a microscope.
• Identify defects such as solder bridges, cold joints, insufficient solder, missing components, and damaged parts.
• Complete repairs and flag issues requiring further review.
• Support basic testing, board cleaning, final assembly, and packaging.
• Record QC results and communicate issues to the production team.
• Follow ESD procedures, safe work practices, and established quality requirements.

Qualifications

• Hands‑on experience with PCB hand soldering, particularly through‑hole assemblies.
• Ability to produce clean, consistent solder joints and recognize common assembly defects.
• Ability to follow written instructions and identify electronic components.
• Strong attention to detail, good hand‑eye coordination, and comfort with repetitive precision work.
• Reliability and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Preferred experience

• PCB inspection or quality control in an electronics manufacturing environment.
• Familiarity with IPC‑A‑610 and J‑STD‑001.
• Experience with surface‑mount rework and basic electrical testing.
• IPC certification is an asset.
