Job description

Electronic Attack (EA) Analyst

The Electronic Attack (EA) Analyst will be responsible for developing EA mission libraries for the Royal Canadian Navy (RCN) at the Naval Electronic Warfare Centre (NEWC) in Ottawa, Canada. The EA Analyst will be embedded at NEWC to develop engagement models in Ship Air Defense Model (SADM) and utilize other Modelling and Simulation (M&S) tools to create and test the mission libraries. The engagement models may include ship, environment, sensors (radar, electro‑optics, and infrared), EA assets (chaff, decoys, and jammers) as well as threat systems. The EA Analyst will also support documentation and verification and validation (V&V) of the digital models, and may support shore‑based and sea trials.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct open and classified literature research and engineering analysis for system parameters and behaviours.
  • Perform mathematical modelling based on first principles to estimate system parameters.
  • Develop parametric models.
  • Conduct simulation engagements between the various entities (ship, threat systems).
  • Execute Monte Carlo simulations and analysis.
  • Perform analysis and verification activities to confirm system model behaviours.
  • Document simulation results.
Required skills, qualifications and experience
  • A bachelor’s degree in mathematics, physics or engineering relevant to the role.
  • Electromagnetics theory and digital signal processing.
Desired skills, qualifications and experience
  • A master’s or PhD degree in mathematics, physics, or engineering.
  • Radar systems design, radar signal processing and analysis.
  • Physics‑based modelling and simulation experience using SADM, MATLAB/Simulink.
  • Electronic Warfare (EW) systems design and analysis.
  • EA and electronic protection concepts and systems.
  • Electronic support measures design and analysis.
  • Radio Frequency (RF) theory.
  • Antenna design and analysis.
