Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) Engineer

Purpose of the job :

The EMC Engineer will support projects in the EMC field. Their task will be to ensure the electromagnetic compatibility of railway products designed and manufactured by the Company.

Responsibilities

  • Enforce EMC design and manufacturing rules
  • Prepare clause-by-clause responses to customer specifications during tenders, including cost estimates
  • Write EMC Transverse Requirements Specifications and EMC Control Plans within project frameworks
  • Verify product designs, including architecture, subsystem layout, electrical interfaces, and cabling
  • Prepare and verify EMC test specifications and reports from suppliers
  • Verify manufacturing adherence to EMC rules on prototypes or first equipment
  • Perform EMC tests on test benches and / or on-site, and generate test reports
  • Compile EMC Compliance Files at project end
  • Address EMC issues encountered during projects
  • Contribute to the development of guidelines, processes, design rules, and testing tools
  • Propose and carry out EMC R&D actions

Skills and Competencies

  • Electrical Engineering degree (BSc / MSc), preferably with EMC specialization
  • OIQ Member
  • Over 5 years of EMC-related experience in sectors such as automotive, aeronautics, military, railway, or building
  • Advanced conversational / reading skills in French
  • Advanced conversational / writing / reading skills in English
  • Willingness to travel outside Montreal (to customer sites and other Alstom locations)
