Electro-Mechanical Systems Engineer Co-op (Fall 2025)

This position will be responsible for developing processes, assembly instructions, and work instructions for the integration of value-added options (chip management systems, high-pressure coolant systems, work holding tables, mist collection units, etc.) and associated equipment on a variety of CNC machine tool platforms. Facilitate installation of new options with the Production team and document the process. Daily responsibilities will require close coordination and collaboration with team members from Production and Applications Engineering to develop processes and work instructions for effective and repeatable equipment installation. Occasional work outside of normal schedule may be required.

Responsibilities:

  • Consistently follow and reinforce safety and work procedures; notify management of safety or quality issues.
  • Develop procedures, assembly guides, and work instructions for efficient setup and installation of CNC machine platforms and options.
  • Focus on electro-mechanical and control systems, including documentation of mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electronic control interfaces.
  • Translate complex technical information into understandable formats for factory and field installation.
  • Perform installations, identify hurdles, and collaborate to develop solutions.
  • Promote Lean Six Sigma principles, including developing standard work, conducting time studies, implementing 5S, and using Poke Yoke and Visual Management to reduce errors.
  • Create or update detailed CAD drawings using SolidWorks.
  • Support ISO 9001:2015 certification efforts through internal audits, process improvements, data analysis, and KPI tracking.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned.
