Electrician - Production (afternoon shift)

About The Role

This position is primarily responsible for emergency repairs, preventive maintenance, CI projects, and process support. As a licensed electrician, you will work under the direction of the Maintenance Team Lead to maintain processing, filling, packaging, and facilities-related equipment in proper and safe operating condition.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshoot and repair electronic and electrical equipment in plant, facilities, and office, being fully conversant with electrical/electronic diagrams and schematics.
  • Troubleshoot, adjust, and modify manufacturing, processing, and associated equipment controls: PLC, HMI, motion, instrumentation, vision systems, and robotic installations.
  • Work independently or as part of a team on assigned CI projects, providing assistance as required. Document problems, findings, solutions, programming changes, and share with the maintenance and engineering group.
  • Work on new installations, installing electrical services and equipment as required, in accordance with local, provincial, and national codes.
  • Provide direction and training to production personnel to help them meet production standards and provide process control support.
  • Develop and modify Planned Maintenance Programs in conjunction with the Maintenance Planner to ensure reliable, cost-effective performance of equipment.
  • Prepare requisitions and source components for electronic/electrical materials. Assist in determining spare parts stock levels necessary for reliable operation.
  • Prepare job material lists and perform job costing regarding material and labor requirements.
  • Assist other maintenance personnel as necessary.
  • Work shift assignments as required and provide shift coverage when needed.
  • Support plant operations remotely as required and participate in call-ins and on-call hours.
  • Attend training courses to maintain technical skill levels related to electronics/electrical trade.
  • Use the work order system to ensure accurate time tracking.
  • Assist Engineering with capital/expense projects.
  • Contribute to team efforts within the department to achieve daily objectives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Serve as a member of the Emergency Response Team.
  • Ensure all work is performed safely, paying attention to hazards and maintaining good housekeeping.

Required Experience:

  • Certificate of Apprenticeship and Certificate of Qualification as an Industrial Electrician (442 Electrical license preferred).
  • Knowledge of the Rockwell Automation platform.

Knowledge of software packages such as Outlook, Windows, Word, Excel, SAP, RSLogix, Wonderware, Endress+Hauser Device Care, Cognex In-Sight Explorer, Keyence IV Navigator, Fanuc, and ABB Robotics is preferred.

Preferred Skills:

  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Leadership and strategic planning skills.
  • Experience in manufacturing, preferably 1–3 years or more in the packaged goods industry.

Job Requirements:

  • This role will be on the afternoon shift.
