REEL International is seeking an Electrician to perform electrical installation and assembly for overhead lifting equipment across Ontario. The role involves reading blueprints, wiring panels and motors, and ensuring compliance with electrical codes and safety standards.

Collaboration with skilled trades, operators and engineers is essential for timely project completion. The position requires diagnosing motor control faults, conducting factory tests, and maintaining clear as-built diagrams

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret blueprints, electrical schematics and BOMs to plan/install upgrades
  • Install, wire, maintain, and repair electrical systems on hoists and overhead cranes
  • Draw/edit electrical wiring diagrams to maintain as-built status
  • Ensure electrical work complies with local, provincial and federal codes and safety standards
  • Diagnose faults in motor control circuits, relays, sensors, VFDs and related components
  • Run factory tests and debug issues to ensure equipment operates correctly
  • Follow lockout/tagout safety procedures and maintain a safe work area
  • Coordinate with contractors, engineers and team members to complete projects on time and within budget
  • Test circuits for continuity in wiring and equipment
  • Program, modify and troubleshoot VFD controlled equipment
  • Perform basic mechanical tasks as needed and adhere to instructions from Lead Hand/Plant Manager
  • Willing to travel for service jobs and work overtime when required

Job description

Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Electrician performs the electrical installation and assembly work of the overhead lifting equipment for our customersthroughout Ontario. In your activities, you will have to interact with skilled tradespeople, operators, supervisors, and equipment.

Main Responsibilities
  • Reading and interpreting blueprints, electrical schematics and BOM's to plan and execute electrical installations and upgrades
  • Must be completely knowledgeable with all electrical terminology and instrumentations
  • Install, wire, maintain, and repair electrical systems, including wiring of panels, circuits, motors, and equipment on hoists and overhead cranes
  • Draw and or edit electrical wiring diagrams to maintain "As-Built" status of equipment
  • Ensure all electrical work adheres to local, provincial and federal electrical codes, safety standards, and applicable regulations
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical issues; faults in motor control circuits, relays, contactors, sensors, VFD's and related components using a variety of tools and techniques to identify and resolve problems efficiently
  • Conduct factory running tests of the equipment once the electrical installation is complete
  • Debug any issues that arise during the testing phase to ensure equipment is operating correctly
  • Adhere to strict safety protocols, including lockout/tagout procedures, to ensure the safety of the work environment.
  • Work closely with other contractors, engineers, and team members to complete projects on time and within budget.
  • Test electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment and fixtures
  • Program, modify, maintain and troubleshoot VFD controlled equipment
  • Some mechanical tasks including drilling, punching holes, grinding, cutting, tack welding, fastening, bolting, or bending and shaping structural steel into the desired pattern
  • Performing job duties with precision
  • Follows instructions given by the Lead Hand and/or Plant Manager
  • Maintains a safe, clean, and orderly work area.
  • Interfaces well with the Lead Hand as well as with all senior level employees
  • Wears appropriate safety gear in the performance of his/her duties.
  • Perform other shop duties when required.
  • Agree to go out on service jobs with service team technicians if required.
  • Able to work overtime when required
