We are seeking an electrician to join our team. Reporting directly to the Mill Maintenance Electrical and Instrumentation Supervisor, the electrician will be responsible for the maintenance of all electrical systems on the mine site related to stationary equipment as well as the camp and outlying company owned buildings.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and upgrade existing electrical systems as well as new installations, including (but not limited to) control equipment, monitors, motors, VFD’s, and more.
- Interpret drawings, blueprints, schematics, and electrical code specifications.
- Install and maintain automated systems.
- Consult with other specialists when working with complex electronic devices and systems and require additional expertise.
- Attend to breakdowns and emergencies on all electrical equipment on site.
- Follow preventative maintenance programs, including routine equipment inspections.
- Maintain maintenance records and keep a detailed digital log of daily tasks.
- Lock out equipment that presents any type of hazard and meet with supervisor to review process to make it safe and operable.
- Replace items such as circuit breakers, fuses, switches, electrical and electronic components.
- Change fuses and repair and/or replace lighting.
- Operate and maintain switch gear up to 13.8KV, including performing medium voltage terminations.
- Reroute power (ground switching) as required to complete work safely.
- Provide electrical service for surface operating equipment.
- Perform regular maintenance on electrical equipment and systems.
- Assist with maintenance of site electrical distribution systems and fixed camp support facilities equipment.
- Recommend actions to maximize maintenance efficiency and minimize operational downtime.
- Help apprentices develop their skills by delegating tasks or projects that will optimize their training experience.
Required Experience and Skill Set
- 2+ years related experience in mining maintenance.
- Advanced knowledge/expertise in electrical principles and techniques.

Certifications
- Red Seal Journeyperson Electrical certification.
- Valid inter-provincial trade qualification certificate in a relevant field.
