Position Description
There is a position available for an Electrician/HVAC with School District No. 60. Applications must be completed online and will be accepted until noon, April 30, 2025.
Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Electrician/HVAC is responsible for the installation, repair, and maintenance of electrical and HVAC services and related equipment within School District facilities and grounds.
Hours of Work:
8 hours per day, five days per week
Duties to Commence:
As soon as possible after closing
Work Year Base:
Twelve months per year
Starting Salary:
$38.47/hr
Duties:
- Plan own workday based on varying priorities between electrical and HVAC duties.
- Repair, replace, test, install, and maintain electrical equipment.
- Perform preventative maintenance on power distributing systems, heating and cooling controls, direct digital controls, and fire alarm systems.
- Operate, troubleshoot, and routinely maintain heating systems, boilers, cooling plant equipment, HVAC systems, and emergency diesel/natural gas generators.
- Maintain and adjust Direct Digital Controls to ensure acceptable building environments, following District Energy Management Strategies.
- Assist the Operations Manager in resolving issues related to building systems.
- Monitor and replenish supplies for electrical and HVAC trades as needed.
- Ensure tools, equipment, and vehicles are in good working order (e.g., pre-trip inspections).
- Follow safety rules and standards to ensure a safe and secure worksite, and operate equipment and vehicles according to standards.
- Handle hazardous materials safely (WHMIS) and operate tools and equipment safely.
- Maintain HVAC databases and operate HVAC systems using various computer programs.
- Stay current with changing technology, codes, and methods.
- Apply safe work practices at all times and report unsafe conditions.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the Operations Manager.
Qualifications and Attributes:
- Interprovincial Red Seal Certified Electrician
- Field Services Representative License preferred
- Class 5 driver’s license
- Acceptable Driver’s Abstract
- WHMIS Certificate and other safety training to be completed within the probationary period
- Additional safety certifications as required by the District
- Ability to pass a Vulnerable Sector Criminal Records Search
- Good interpersonal skills and team orientation
- Well organized and able to work independently with set priorities
