Salary

The salary range for this position is CAD $40.14/Hr.

Summary

Under the direction of the Electrical Supervisor, the successful candidate will carry out skilled journeyman-level electrical tasks involving the installation, troubleshooting, construction, modification, repair, maintenance, and servicing of electrical systems and equipment within the hospital.

Education

  • Certificate of Apprenticeship or Trades Qualification Certificate as a journeyman Electrician recognized by the Province of British Columbia. Two years' recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Skills and Abilities

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to deal effectively with others.
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
  • Organizational skills to manage work efficiently.
  • Ability to operate related equipment.

Your Day-to-Day Responsibilities
  • Perform preventative maintenance, testing, repairs, and troubleshooting on hospital systems, including fire alarms, security, and communication systems.
  • Install, modify, and repair electrical wiring, circuits, appliances, and devices.
  • Conduct safety checks to ensure compliance with codes and regulations.
  • Coordinate with departments to schedule work and gather necessary tools and materials.
  • Review work requests and clarify specifications with departments.
  • Interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications for project planning and execution.
  • Estimate material and labor needs; provide cost recommendations.
  • Assign tasks and provide training to staff as needed.
  • Maintain inventory, prepare reports, and recommend supply purchases.
  • Perform additional related duties as required.
