Job summary

Saputo Inc. in Port Coquitlam, BC, is seeking an Industrial Electrician to support our manufacturing operations. You will interpret drawings and specifications to install and maintain electrical systems, PLCs, VFDs, and switchgear, ensuring reliable plant performance.

Ideal candidates hold a Journeyperson Industrial Red Seal, with strong mechanical skills and the ability to work independently within a team, including safety-focused operations in a food-processing environment.

Qualifications

• Must have Journeyperson Industrial Red Seal
• Strong mechanical maintenance skills in industrial settings
• Experience in food industry or high-speed packaging advantageous
• Proficient in troubleshooting and problem-solving
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Ability to operate in confined spaces and perform heavy lifting

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret drawings, blueprints, and electrical specs for layout of equipment.
• Install, troubleshoot, replace or repair electrical motors, VFDs, PLCs and components.
• Test electrical equipment for continuity, current, voltage, resistance.
• Maintain and test switchgear, transformers, regulators and reactors.
• Maintain and test industrial control systems and batteries.
• Understand ladder logic at a basic level and apply where needed.
• Conduct preventative maintenance and keep records.
• Carry out general plant and equipment maintenance.
• Maintain and calibrate industrial instrumentation.
• Perform other duties as required.

How you will make contributions that matter…

• Read and interpret drawings, blueprints, schematic and electrical code specifications to determine layout of industrial electrical equipment installations
• Install, troubleshoot, replace or repair medium/low voltage electrical motors, VFDs, PLCs and other electrical components
• Test electrical and electronic equipment and components for continuity, current, voltage and resistance
• Maintain, repair, install and test switchgear, transformers, regulators and reactors
• Maintain, repair, test and install industrial storage batteries, hydraulic and pneumatic electrical control systems
• Basic understanding of ladder logic program
• Conduct preventative maintenance programs and keep maintenance records
• Carry out general plant/ equipment maintenance
• Maintain and calibrate industrial instrumentation and related devices
• Perform other duties as required

• Excellent mechanical skills and ability to carry out general plant/ equipment maintenance
• Food industry or high-speed packaging experience
• PLC training and experience would be an asset
• Demonstrate excellent trouble shooting skills and analytical skills
• Able to work independently with minimum supervisor and within an interdependent team
• A high level of self-motivation and initiative
• Proven proficiency and dependability in current position with a good safety record
• Able to work in confined space and perform some heavy lifting
