Job summary

Weyerhaeuser is seeking a Journeyman Electrician for our Edson, AB OSB facility. You will troubleshoot and maintain electrical systems, including motor control, PLCs, HMIs, and VFDs, in a high‑safety manufacturing environment.

The role requires a Journeyman certification and industrial maintenance experience. Shift options include 12‑hour days (4 on/4 off) or 10‑hour days, with comprehensive benefits and opportunities for professional development.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Valid Journeyman Electrician certification.
• Experience in industrial maintenance essential.
• Experience troubleshooting and programming Allen-Bradley PLCs.
• Experience with VFDs and network protocols (DeviceNet/Ethernet/IP).
• Ability to pass drug and alcohol screening.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and repair electrical equipment including power distribution and motor control.
• Provide PLC programming support and troubleshooting.
• Install conduit, wire and rewire systems.
• Operate and maintain HMIs and process control equipment.
• Support Millwright tasks and mechanical maintenance as needed.
• Ensure safe operation and maintenance of electrical systems.

DescriptionWeyerhaeuser Company is currently recruiting for an immediate opening for Journeyman Electrician at our OSB facility located in Edson, AB.We are seeking individuals who are committed to safety, have a positive attitude, excellent work ethic & a desire to work in a manufacturing facility.Starting rate of pay is $51.97 per hour.Shift Rotations are 12-hour shifts, 4 on/4 off; or, 10-hour shifts, Monday-Thursday, or Tuesday-Friday.Full benefits include:Health, Well-Being, and Future* Medical + Prescription, Dental + Vision for you and your family.* Life and Accidental Death Insurance, Retirement Plan Options with Employer Contributions.* Employee Assistance Program.Time Away from Work* Paid vacation.* Health, dental and vision benefits.* Disability benefits.Appreciation and Opportunity* Competitive base pay and a site performance bonus plan.* Professional development and career advancement opportunities.Key Functions:* Troubleshoot and repair electrical equipment including power distribution and motor control systems (240 – 5KV), PLCs (mostly Allen-Bradley PLC-5s and Controllogix), Motion controllers (mostly Temposonic), Adjustable Frequency drives (A/B-Rockwell PowerFlex) and Process control equipment including HMIs.* Provide PLC programming support (troubleshooting and upgrading); run conduit and wire/rewire systems.* Assist in performing Millwright work as needed including metal fabrication, mechanical drives repair, preventive maintenance inspections and lubrication* Manage the electrical systems in the manufacturing facility.* Install, repair, and troubleshoot all electrical systems in the operation.* Effectively maintain communications with maintenance personnel and supervisors to safely and efficiently perform mill maintenance duties both reactive and preventive.* Assist with basic mechanical maintenance functions as needed.QualificationsQualifications:* High School Diploma or equivalent.* Valid Journeyman Electrician certification.* Experience in Industrial Maintenance.* Experience troubleshooting and programming with Allen Bradley PLCs.* Experience troubleshooting and programming VFDs (Preferably Allen Bradley).* Experience troubleshooting and set-up of DeviceNet and Ethernet/IP networks.* Troubleshooting motors and motor starter controls.* Ownership and commitment to safety and risk assessment.* Instrumentation experience is an asset but not required.* This is a safety-sensitive position; candidates must be able to pass drug and alcohol screening.About Wood ProductsWe've been delivering quality building products and solutions to our customers for more than 100 years.
