Job summary

Amico is seeking an experienced Estimator to lead cost estimates for electrical and civil utility infrastructure projects in Ontario. The role covers municipal and utility bid work, roadway lighting, traffic signalization, duct banks, and relocations.

Responsibilities include reviewing drawings and tender documents, performing detailed quantity takeoffs, and developing labor/equipment assumptions to support comprehensive bid submissions. Travel across GTA areas is expected.

Qualifications

• 5–8 years estimating experience in electrical utility or civil infra sectors.
• Experience preparing bids for municipal, utility, and infrastructure projects.
• Knowledge of Ontario construction practices and tender documents.
• Ability to interpret drawings, specs, contracts and price components.

Responsibilities

• Prepare complete cost estimates for electrical and civil utility projects.
• Review drawings, specs, contracts, and tender docs to define scope.
• Produce quantity takeoffs for underground distribution, lighting, ducts.
• Solicit and evaluate quotations from suppliers and subcontractors.
• Develop labour rates, equipment use, and execution strategies.
• Identify risks/opportunities and participate in bid reviews.
• Prepare bid submissions for municipal, utility, provincial, private clients.
• Attend pre-bid meetings, site visits, and client meetings as needed.
• Collaborate with project managers and senior leadership during estimating.
• Provide value engineering and cost-saving recommendations.
