We are seeking multiple Electrical Technologists / Technicians to support the Central Services Maintenance Department at our aluminum smelter in Kitimat, BC.

This is an excellent opportunity for motivated individuals to develop their skills working with equipment such as boilers, conveyor systems, rotating machinery, cranes, vibro-compactors, mixing equipment, VFDs, soft starters, and process control loops.

Reporting to the Maintenance Superintendent and working a rotating day-shift schedule, your responsibilities will include:

• Promoting and adhering to Rio Tinto's Health, Safety, and Environmental standards
• Providing electrical and automation support to ensure operational targets are met
• Maintaining effective preventive, predictive, and periodic maintenance activities
• Defining spare parts and maintenance strategies to optimize equipment efficiency
• Assessing asset conditions and executing improvement plans
• Developing guidelines and standards for equipment repair
• Analyzing KPIs for continuous improvement
• Supporting during critical breakdowns outside regular hours

What you’ll bring

• A commitment to safety
• At least one of the following qualifications:
  • Technologist Diploma or Degree in Electrical, Automation, or Instrumentation
  • Industrial Electrician Red Seal Certificate
• Minimum two years relevant experience
• Knowledge of electrical maintenance and control systems (HMI, PLC, VFD)
• Strong communication and collaboration skills
• Intermediate MS Excel skills (macros, statistical analysis)

Preferred:

• Registration or eligibility to register as an Applied Science Technologist with ASTTBC
