This position reports to the Manager, Operations Engineering in the Natural Gas Liquids Business Unit, located in one of North America's busiest port cities. The terminal manages inbound and outbound bulk and liquids products at separate berths for receiving and shipping mineral concentrates, sulfur in prill form, agricultural products, and diesel fuel by railcars, trucks, and marine vessels.

Responsibilities:

  1. Manage projects from scope development, proposal and conceptual design, detailed design, construction, to commissioning and post-project support.
  2. Review the current state and identify long-term improvement plans to optimize the capacity and lifespan of the plant’s electrical equipment.
  3. Work with the engineering manager to champion the improvement plan and allocate capital funds to multiple projects.
  4. Review competing designs and material usage with asset quality and improvement versus costs in mind, coordinating project work with civil and mechanical teams or with the terminal’s maintenance group.
  5. Perform technically complex calculations to verify designs or modifications to the existing electrical infrastructure, redline AutoCAD drawings as required, and ensure conformity to the company’s engineering standards.
  6. Analyze costs, track expenditures, verify invoices, and oversee third-party work quality to maintain adherence to project budgets and deadlines.
  7. Administer documents required for approvals, track scope changes, define new asset additions, and ensure manuals and updated engineering drawings are accurate for project tracking and archiving. Prepare Management of Change and Project Governance records for submission to the corporate document library.

Successful candidates will have:

  1. An Electrical Engineering degree or Electrical/Electronic Engineering Technologist Diploma. A Red Seal certificate is an asset.
  2. Medium to high voltage experience.
  3. Detailed understanding of CSA standards and practices around electrical safety and maintenance.
  4. Electrical FSR: Class A certification is preferred.
  5. Hands-on experience with power distribution design, motor control, fiber optics, Ethernet and industrial communications instrumentation, PLC and HMI control solutions.
  6. Experience managing projects in an industrial environment, with knowledge of conveyance systems, VFDs, MCC systems, and their maintenance.
  7. Troubleshooting skills for electrical line drawings and schematic diagrams; industrial labor relations experience is an asset.
  8. Strong computer skills, including AutoCAD, CMMS, and MS Office suite.
