Job description

Full-time, permanent position with benefits in Vancouver for an exciting industrial role.

Agilus is recruiting for an Electrical Technologist PM in the Heavy Industrial Industry in North Vancouver, British Columbia.

This position reports to the Manager, Operations Engineering, in the Natural Gas Liquids Business Unit, located in one of North America's busiest port cities. The terminal handles inbound and outbound bulk and liquids products at separate berths for receiving and shipping mineral concentrates, sulfur in prill form, agricultural products, and diesel fuel by railcars, trucks, and marine vessels.

Responsibilities:

  • Managing projects from scope development, proposal and conceptual design, detailed design, construction, to commissioning and post-project support.
  • Reviewing the current state and identifying long-term improvement plans to optimize the capacity and lifespan of the plant’s electrical equipment.
  • Collaborating with the engineering manager to champion the improvement plan and allocate capital funds to multiple projects.
  • Reviewing competing designs and material usage with asset quality and improvement versus costs in mind; coordinating project work with other disciplines such as civil and mechanical teams, or with the terminal’s maintenance group.
  • Performing complex calculations to verify designs or modifications to the existing electrical infrastructure; redlining AutoCAD drawings to markup design proposals and ensure conformity to engineering standards.
  • Analyzing costs, tracking expenditures, verifying invoices, and overseeing third-party work quality to adhere to project budgets and deadlines.
  • Administering necessary documents for approvals, tracking scope changes, defining new asset additions, and ensuring manuals and engineering drawings are accurate for project tracking and archiving; preparing Management of Change and Project Governance records for submission.

Successful candidates will have:

  • An Electrical Engineering degree or Electrical/Electronic Engineering Technologist Diploma; a Red Seal certificate is an asset.
  • Medium to high voltage experience.
  • Detailed understanding of CSA standards and practices around electrical safety and maintenance.
  • Electrical FSR: Class A certification preferred.
  • Hands-on experience with power distribution design, motor control, fiber optics, Ethernet, industrial communications instrumentation, PLC, and HMI control solutions.
  • Experience managing projects in an industrial environment, with knowledge of conveyance systems, VFDs, MCC systems, and maintenance.
  • Troubleshooting skills for reviewing electrical line drawings and reading schematics; industrial labor relations experience is an asset.
  • Strong computer skills, including AutoCAD, CMMS, and MS Office suite.
