Job summary

ATCO Energy Systems in Peace River, AB is seeking an entry level Electrical Technologist with a Diploma to gain hands-on experience in maintenance, testing, and commissioning of equipment in substations and generation facilities.

You’ll work with seasoned professionals, handling troubleshooting, records, and safety training while contributing to reliable power systems. This role requires relocation considerations and a strong commitment to safety and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate to perform maintenance testing on protective relays, transformers, circuit breakers, and more.
• Assist in construction, installation, and commissioning of equipment.
• Participate in commissioning, repairs, and installation of distribution equipment for reliable power systems.
• Maintain records of maintenance and installation activities.
• Troubleshoot electrical equipment and systems; analyze failures and generate reports.
• Gain exposure to PLC/RTU/HMI through troubleshooting and repair tasks.
• Oil and gas filling tasks for power transformers and HV equipment.
• Provide technical support across groups to foster collaboration.
• Operate testing equipment for troubleshooting and maintenance.
• Develop understanding of electrical safety practices and regulations.
• Attend safety meetings and mandatory training.
