Job summary

Ellos HR Solutions partners with a leading Hamilton industrial manufacturer to recruit a seasoned Controls Engineer or Electrical Technologist with a 442A license. You will design and maintain automated electrical controls for high-volume production.

You will program PLCs, develop schematics, and lead reliability improvements while collaborating with Maintenance, Engineering, and Production teams. This on-site role offers a stable career path, RRSP matching, and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

  • 442A Industrial Electrician License (Mandatory)
  • Electrical Engineering Degree or Electrical Technologist Diploma, or equivalent technical education
  • Minimum 6 years of experience working with industrial automation and PLC-controlled equipment
  • Strong experience with Allen-Bradley Logix and Siemens S7 PLC platforms
  • Experience designing, programming, commissioning, and supporting automated control systems
  • Solid understanding of industrial instrumentation, motor controls, VFDs, sensors, and electrical distribution systems
  • Strong troubleshooting skills in high-volume manufacturing environments
  • Self-motivated professional who can manage projects independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving abilities

Responsibilities

  • Design, improve, and maintain electrical control systems supporting automated manufacturing operations
  • Develop and modify PLC, HMI, and drive programs to improve equipment reliability and production performance
  • Create and update electrical schematics, control documentation, and technical specifications
  • Diagnose and resolve complex electrical and automation issues to minimize equipment downtime
  • Support commissioning activities for new equipment, upgrades, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Develop preventive maintenance strategies for electrical and control systems
  • Verify equipment performance while ensuring compliance with electrical codes, safety standards, and company procedures
  • Work closely with Maintenance, Engineering, and Production teams to implement automation improvements and optimize manufacturing processes
