Job summary

Domtar Corporation in Skookumchuck, BC, is seeking an Electrical Supervisor to lead maintenance of electrical/instrumentation equipment, support systems, buildings and services, ensuring maximum availability for quality and production.

Under the Mechanical Superintendent, you will supervise crews, plan daily and shutdown maintenance, manage budgets, coordinate with union representatives, and help recruit and develop electrical/instrumentation staff.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 or equivalent.
• Valid trades qualification or engineering degree.
• Minimum 2 years frontline supervisory maintenance experience.
• Understanding of mill-wide mechanical equipment.
• Familiarity with pulp process equipment.
• Supervisory training completed.
• Budgeting and financial familiarity.

Responsibilities

• Establishes maintenance needs and priorities with Maintenance Planners, Reliability Supervisor, and Area Supervisors to minimize production losses.
• Responsible for leading, directing, and controlling maintenance crews to ensure daily planned maintenance objectives and safety/environmental compliance.
• Monitors equipment condition, anticipates failures, and deploys plans with engineers and trades to perform needed work.
• Participates in recruiting, training, and development of Electrical/Instrumentation personnel; liaises with union representatives as needed.
• Works with Maintenance staff to develop area budgets, prioritize spending, and advise management on cost overruns.

The location in Skookumchuck , British Columbia , Canada , is seeking talent to fill the position of Electrical Supervisor. This job is full-time permanent .

Under the general direction of the Mechanical Superintendent, the Electrical/Instrumentation Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for the maintenance, repair, and installation of the mill Electrical/Instrument equipment, support systems, buildings, and services, ensuring maximum availability of equipment in support of quality and production.

AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

• Establishes maintenance needs and priorities with the assistance of Maintenance Planners, Reliability Supervisor, and Area Supervisors to minimize production losses. Supervises the Planning and implementation of daily maintenance, preventative maintenance, and shutdown maintenance. Reports on equipment failure and remedial service plans.
• Responsible for leading, directing, and controlling maintenance crews to ensure their daily planned maintenance objectives, safety performance, environmental compliance, government regulations, and insurance requirements are satisfied.
• Monitors equipment condition, anticipates potential failures, and formulates solutions. Deploys project engineers to troubleshoot and form a plan then ensures tradesmen are deployed to perform needed work.
• Participates in recruiting, training, and development of Electrical/Instrumentation Personnel. Liaises as required with union representatives to resolve grievances. May sit on apprenticeship selection committee.
• Works with other Maintenance Department staff to develop area maintenance and capital budgets, prioritizes spending, and advise management on cost over-runs and extraordinary equipment restrictions.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Grade 12 or equivalent
• Valid trades qualification or relevant Engineering Degree
• Minimum 2 years experience as a front-line supervisor or related maintenance experience Understanding of mill-wide mechanical equipment
