Job summary

Smith + Andersen is seeking a Project Manager - Electrical in Calgary, AB in a hybrid work setup combining WFH and in-office days. The role requires oversight of electrical building services projects, coordinating multi-disciplinary teams and client communications.

Candidates should have 5+ years of project engineering experience, a P.Eng. or eligible with APEGA, and familiarity with LEED or sustainable design. The firm offers strong benefits and a collaborative culture.

Qualifications

• Five or more years of project engineering experience in the field of electrical building services.
• Current P.Eng. or eligible to apply with APEGA.
• Strong leadership qualities and ability to work independently.
• Ability to work in a complex environment with multiple projects and clients.
• Sound communication skills with clients and staff.
• LEED certification / experience implementing sustainable design is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develop system engineering concepts and budgets; review design against construction budgets.
• Review existing installations and assess project impact.
• Prepare calculations and select equipment; mentor designers and CAD technicians.
• Ensure compliance with codes and communicate requirements to project teams and owners.
• Coordinate document flow with internal and external teams; supervise procurement.
• Apply and oversee project procurement methodologies and contract administration.
• Review deliverables for completeness and quality across stages.
• Enforce company standards for project administration and QA.
• Prepare and issue change notices; manage scope and amendments.
• Support accounts receivable processes and project finances.
• Maintain project schedule with hours and critical data for performance.
• Liaise with external consultants and vendors to ensure smooth delivery.
• Organize and attend client meetings; deliver presentations.
