Here's how a(n) Electrical Project Manager for our Edmonton Industrial Management office contributes to our team:

  • Provides overall contract administration, technical expertise, and support to medium-sized construction projects.
  • Responsible for executing the overall project strategy.
  • Implements and maintains project risk management and actively participates in risk mitigation strategies.
  • Monitors project performance, schedule, costs, equipment, workforce, materials, HSE, and quality control.
  • Ensures the project is constructed as per design, budget, resources, quality, and schedule.
  • Supervises, directs, coaches, trains, and mentors the project team, including direct and indirect reports.
  • Communicates with the project teams to define scope of work, need for change to budgets and schedules, and identification of variances from the original plan.
  • Participates in the set-up of project reporting procedures (e.g., labor, material, cost reports, site office procedures, and document control).
  • Understands jurisdictional markups.
  • Provides performance status reports regarding safety, cost forecast, and schedule.
  • Manages all change orders, including negotiating, processing, and assessing cost and schedule impact.
  • Assists in securing new work by participating in estimates, working with subcontractors, and/or participating in proposals and presentations.
  • Oversees the administration of the project safety and environmental plan.
Qualifications
  • Construction trade certification with equivalent experience, or post-secondary diploma or degree in construction management or engineering preferred.
  • 5 to 8 years of progressive construction experience with a focus on electrical distribution and control or substations, including 1-2 years of supervisory experience preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge of the construction industry and company operations, along with a proven understanding of contract language and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with clients, supervisors, craft workers, and key stakeholders across multiple departments and functions.
  • Proven knowledge of different construction methods, sequencing, potential problems, and timelines as it pertains to their background discipline.
  • Proven planning, organization, and time management skills to establish priorities and schedule work tasks and projects to ensure on-time completion of work priorities.
  • Familiarity with contract management and administration for multiple delivery models (e.g., T&M, T&M Fixed Fee, LS, Unit Rate).
