Overview

Location: Meadow Lake, Saskatchewan, Canada (S9X1V7). Department: Electrical Maintenance (MN02).

The Meadow Lake location is seeking talent to fill the position of Electrical/Instrumentation Technician. This is a Permanent Full-time role within Meadow Lake Mechanical Pulp. The Electrical and Instrumentation Technician (E/I) works as part of a team to maintain, troubleshoot, and optimize electrical and instrumentation and control systems in the mill.

Responsibilities
  • Perform routine planned predictive and corrective E/I maintenance.
  • Plan E/I maintenance in conjunction with Supply Chain and Operations personnel.
  • Investigate E/I technologies with vendors.
  • Troubleshoot, with other mill personnel, operational and maintenance issues.
  • Optimize process control in conjunction with Operations and Technical personnel to enhance mill operation.
  • Develop and implement reliability integrity strategies for E/I equipment.
Qualifications
  • The ideal candidate will be a dual trade E/I journeyperson with experience in PLCs, Distributed Control Systems, analytical instruments, variable speed drives, control systems, high voltage systems, etc. Single Trade Instrumentation or Electrical Journeypersons or Apprentices with enough related experience and who are willing to indenture and acquire the dual trade will be considered.
  • Electrical Apprentice/Instrumentation Technologists will be considered without a journeyperson ticket if they are willing to indenture into apprenticeships to acquire dual trade E/I.
  • Candidates who are interested in indenturing in an electrical or instrument trade (internal/external applicants will be considered).
Preferred Qualifications/Experience
  • Safety Systems and Safety Interlocks.
  • PLC and Distributed Control Systems experience.
  • Process Control

  • Analytical Instrumentation
  • SAP or other enterprise business software
  • Demonstrated ability to collaboratively work in a team environment.
Additional Information
  • The successful candidate will be required to obtain Electrical and Instrumentation Red Seal Journeyperson Status.
  • There is an expectation of providing overtime as required to meet emergency mill needs and for scheduled mill outages. E/I Technicians also provide routine scheduled shift coverage (shared equitability with team).
  • Preference will be given to qualified local and regional Saskatchewan applicants.
