Job summary

Responsibilities cover safety compliance, project management from concept to implementation, design, maintenance support, and coordination with Operations and Maintenance to optimize system performance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a valid trades qualification/diploma in a related field.
• 5–6 years of experience in an industrial or heavy manufacturing environment.
• In-depth knowledge of high- and low-voltage electrical systems, industrial control systems, DCS, and PLC programming.
• Familiarity with steam turbine generators, power distribution networks, and protective relays.
• Knowledge of AutoCAD for designing electrical schematics and layout drawings.
• Experience with energy monitoring/reporting tools and power system analysis software such as SKM.
• Strong oral and written communication skills; ability to convey technical information clearly.
• Solid project management and leadership skills, with experience in managing engineering projects and maintenance tasks.
• Familiarity with SAP or equivalent enterprise asset management systems for work orders and reporting.

Responsibilities

• Actively engage in achieving departmental safety goals and contribute to a zero-incident safety culture.
• Ensure compliance with all safety regulations, company policies, and Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) legislation.
• Audit field service crews and contractors for compliance with safety requirements and address unsafe conditions immediately.
• Ensure that electrical installations and repairs comply with relevant standards and regulatory requirements.
• Manage and lead capital and expense projects related to electrical and instrumentation from concept through implementation.
• Perform engineering design, data gathering, analysis, and documentation processes for electrical systems.
• Support maintenance services for electrical and control systems across the mill, prioritizing equipment availability and performance.
• Oversee energy-related projects, including power generation, distribution, instrumentation, and process automation.
• Identify inline improvement opportunities through innovation and system optimization.
• Assist in planning instrumentation, DCS, PLC, process automation and electrical work assigned to the engineering department.
