Job summary

Aker Solutions in St. John's, NL is seeking Intermediate & Senior Electrical & Instrumentation Designers to support our onshore Engineering group.

You will prepare engineering drawings and documents for electrical and instrumentation scopes, under guidance of senior team members. Ideal candidates have a technical college diploma, 5–10 years of design experience in brownfield environments, and proficiency with 2D/3D design tools, regulatory codes, and instrumentation standards.

Qualifications

• Technical college diploma or an equivalent combination of education and related experience.
• 5-10 years of engineering design experience, ideally within a brownfield industrial environment.
• Experience in conceptual studies, detailed design, and engineering support projects using 2D and 3D design programs.
• Familiar with applicable regulatory codes and design specifications.
• Knowledge of Instrumentation design codes and standards.

Responsibilities

• Working within a multi-disciplined onshore Engineering Team, prepare engineering drawings and documents related to design of electrical and instrumentation scopes for offshore oil platforms under the guidance and direction of senior team members.
• Liaising with the instrumentation team and other disciplines through work development; investigating, advising, and resolving design and field engineering problems.
• Assist senior and intermediate designers and engineers with design documentation packages and construction drawing sets.
• Calculate and prepare bills of materials in accordance with established codes, standards, drawings, and other specifications.
• Developing data sheets, cause and effect diagrams, block diagrams, loop drawings and other typical instrument and controls deliverables.
• Developing heat trace isometrics, panel board schedules, lighting layouts, single lines and other typical electrical deliverables.
• Participate in the development of solutions to technical issues and in the verification of implementation of these solutions.
• Provide technical assistance to the engineering team as required.

We Think You Should Have
