Job summary

Norda Stelo invites an experienced Electrical and Control Designer/Engineer to join our team in the Terrace area, or nearby communities via fly-in/fly-out if needed. You’ll design and implement automated and digital control systems for diverse projects, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team.

You’ll develop electrical power distribution, motor control schemes, and technical documentation, while supporting site surveys, installation oversight, FAT/SAT activities, and proposals.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in electrical and control design.
  • Strong knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code.
  • Experience in heavy industries, mining, and/or port sectors.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD.
  • Ability to estimate engineering effort and contribute to proposals.
  • Bilingual French/English is an asset.

As an Electrical and Control Designer/Engineer, you’ll be at the heart of innovative and stimulating technological projects focused on the development of automated and digital solutions.

You will work closely with a multidisciplinary team to design, integrate, and implement cutting-edge systems that address the complex challenges of our clients.

Work Location and Arrangement

This role is ideally suited to a candidate who is based in Terrace or the surrounding area. For qualified candidates who live elsewhere, a fly-in/fly-out work arrangement may be considered.

What You’ll Do
Design and Technical Documentation
  • Design electrical power distribution and motor control systems.

  • Develop automation solutions tailored to client needs and project constraints.

  • Prepare electrical drawings, control schematics, specifications, data sheets, and other technical documentation.

  • Select electrical and control components based on project requirements.

  • Collaborate with suppliers for equipment procurement.

  • Contribute to service proposals and engineering effort estimates.

  • Conduct site surveys and visit client facilities as required.

Installation and Commissioning (Occasionally)
  • Support the installation of electrical, control, and automation equipment at client sites.

  • Supervise and coordinate installation work.

  • Participate in FAT/SAT and system commissioning.

  • Provide technical support during equipment startup and operation to ensure a smooth handover.

Our essentials
  • 10+ years of experience in electrical and control design.

  • Strong knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code.

  • Experience in the heavy industries, mining and/or port sectors.

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD (asset).

  • Ability to estimate engineering effort and contribute to proposal preparation.

  • Creativity, rigor, autonomy, and strong teamwork skills.

  • Good time and priority management skills.

  • Bilingualism (French/English) is an asset.
